The director of Citizen Security, Lieutenant Commander IM Alfonso Gómez Vázquez, highlighted that citizen participation and coordinated work with federal and state forces have allowed us to obtain positive results in terms of security, including the seizure of various vehicles reported stolen, many of which have already been returned to their owners.
The official explained that these advances are the result of social proximity actions and joint operations carried out in recent days, in which the Secretary of the Navy, the State Police and other security entities participate in a coordinated manner.
As part of the direct support to the population, Gómez Vázquez highlighted acts of honesty and immediate attention, such as the recovery and delivery of a lost wallet in Plaza de las Américas, which was personally returned to its owner, an action that reinforces trust between citizens and authorities.
In addition to the seizure of stolen vehicles, he reported that the arrest of people allegedly related to various criminal acts has been achieved, emphasizing that the support and collaboration of citizens are essential to effectively follow up on each case.
When referring to the crime incidence, the director of Citizen Security recognized that the most frequent crimes in Xalapa are business robbery and home robbery. However, he assured that permanent work is being done to contain and reduce these crimes, with the support of the three levels of government and citizen collaboration.
In this sense, he highlighted the importance of reporting and the use of community tools such as neighborhood networks, which allow a faster and more effective response by the authorities.
“Everything that citizens report to us, whether directly or through neighborhood networks and social networks, helps us address the problem in a real and timely manner,” he expressed.
Finally, Gómez Vázquez reported that around 100 active neighborhood networks currently operate in the city, which have established themselves as a key communication channel between the population and the authorities. He reiterated the call to citizens to continue participating and reporting, stating that joint work is essential to strengthen security and tranquility in the capital of Veracruz.
