The Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, Alejandra Fraustro Guerrero, announced that 110,000 volunteers have been trained towards the 2026 Soccer World Cup, which will begin on June 11. During an event at the National Auditorium, he explained that these volunteers will be ambassadors of the country, guiding tourists about mobility and places of interest.
Training and events
Volunteers received tools such as the Xoli Chatbot and the “The ball comes home” guide. Fraustro highlighted that CDMX offers more than 60 thousand restaurants and will have 180 events linked to the World Cup, in addition to 30 exhibitions. The main Fan Fest will be installed in the Zócalo, with another 18 festivals in municipalities such as Álvaro Obregón, Coyoacán, Iztapalapa and Tlalpan, among others.
To maintain a family atmosphere, alcohol will not be sold in these spaces, a measure that encourages visits to restaurants, canteens and bars. The official recalled that Mexico will host a World Cup for the third time, and the volunteers will be the face of the hospitality that characterizes the country.
