The Art of Elegant Humiliation: Brailovsky Opinions
It seems that the Liga MX calendar has given us another edition of that biannual reality show where América and Chivas measure themselves not only on the field, but on the board of public opinion. And, as is tradition, no ex-player can resist the temptation to add fuel to the fire with statements that range between the controversial and the comically predictable. On this occasion, the turn fell to Daniel Brailovsky, who, with the subtlety of an elephant in a china shop, decided to analyze the state of things.
Both groups arrive at this expected confrontation with realities so different that even a child with a Panini album would notice. The Eagles, those beings of feather and claw, struggle at the top of the classification, fighting for leadership as if it were their divine right. Meanwhile, the Sacred Flock grazes quietly in the lower positions of the table, seeking not so much glory as to avoid shame. The obligation to win, of course, weighs more on the one who has less to lose… or at least, that’s what the pre-match clichés say.
The (Ironic) Wisdom of a Historical
In a marketing masterstroke to keep his name relevant, Brailovsky gave an interview to TUDN. The theme? Oh, just a calm and even-tempered reflection on sporting equality. Lie! The so-called “Russian” dedicated himself to throwing poisoned darts with a hint of acid humor, making it clear that, in his opinion, comparing the two is like equating a yacht with a rubber duck.
His words, a jewel of football diplomacy, were: “To match it or not (the Classic), the distances are enormous, heaven and earth, it is impossible, the greatest is América (…) the distances are enormous. It is the reality of what happens… I understand that you have to sell, because you transmit it, but you are small next to América”. Wow, what a subtle way to say that you see Chivas as that awkward cousin who has to be invited to the family wedding because of a commitment.
One wonders if Brailovsky has a compass that only points towards Coapa or if he simply enjoys watching social networks burn. With the elegance of a controlled collapse, he proceeded to dismiss any other modern rivalry that may have arisen, such as against Tigres or Cruz Azul. According to their logic, everyone wants to have a classic with America, because, apparently, being the center of attention is an acquired right. The people of Querétaro, of course, woke up today thinking exactly that.
The height of his dissertation was to affirm that, within the American locker room, the players go out to play this game “like any game, but more so the Clásico.” A phrase that, without a doubt, resolves all existential doubts about sports motivation. Is it just another game or is it the game? The brilliant ambiguity of the phrase would deserve a philosophical analysis.
The great National Classic will be played this Saturday, September 13 at the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium, at 9:15 p.m.. A show that promises ninety minutes of football and approximately seven days of analysis, memes and subsequent inflammatory statements. Brailovsky, without a doubt, already has his ready.
