Arrows to the target! Mexico shines at home
The Mexican talent in archery spoke loudly again. And he did it at home, during the recent Indoor World Series held in Mérida, Yucatán.
With the extra pressure of being the favorites, our goalkeepers did not disappoint. The Aztec delegation faced great rivals and closed the competition with an impressive haul: 43 medals.
The breakdown speaks of a round performance: 17 golds, 14 silvers and 12 bronzes. More than putting the flag at the top of the podium, they added valuable points for the ranking heading to Los Angeles 2028.
Stories behind the podium
One of the most outstanding moments was starred by Ángela Ruiz. In the recurve category, she beat a luxury rival: also Mexican and medalist in Paris 2024, Alejandra Valencia, who had to settle for silver.
“It is a result that fills us with pride and gives us a lot of confidence for the future,” commented Rommel Pacheco, head of Conade.
But the success was collective. In the compound bow event – a discipline that will make its Olympic debut in LA 2028 – names like Andrea Becerra and Miguel Becerra also shone.
These results are not a coincidence. They are the result of years of discipline and preparation. Pacheco announced that great events will continue to arrive in the country so that our athletes continue polishing their level.
The Mexican archery school is more alive than ever. And after this festival in Mérida, he looks with more ambition towards the great goal: the 2028 Olympic Games.
